It makes it very difficult for us to be taken seriously as teachers and designers. I probably wouldn't be so angry except for the fact that this WAS one of my submissions which always got big compliments. No more. And I've taken the high road for so long that this time I had to make a stand. It's not a big one, but it made me feel better.Bead-Musedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01921670436870164582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5521177932030320753.post-77155594660421921452009-06-24T13:40:55.104-05:002009-06-24T13:40:55.104-05:00Oh wow - I just read your Saturday post. I am so sorry this happened to you and in fact so sad that it happens so much.

I have had teachers in the same store use my designs and teach them - one even used the same project name for goodness sakes! More common are those that take my class in a national venue, then immediately teach all of their friends back home how to do it, or even teach it in their local bead store. I've had people e-mail me with questions derived from learning down the grapevine. It is frustrating and shows a complete lack of integrity, and really hurts the bottom line when you go to teach the next time. The irony is, that when they ask permission, we always come up with something that works well for both of us.

That said, I have also come to realize that for me, what is important is the process of creating and no one can take that away from me. So they may teach my old designs, but not the ones formulating in my mind! And, as I tell my kids, the biggest form of complement is when someone copies you.Beverly Ash Gilberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11604623165508918570noreply@blogger.com
